Bling Bling

I was so tired yesterday after the homeparty, I forgot to tell you about my catch of the day!
I went to a sample sale of Wouters & Hendrix, a Belgian silver and gold jewelry brand. 
When I wear earrings made out of other metals than gold or silver, my ears start swelling. I can't wear them longer than 2 hours before I have to take them out because of the pain. 
Good excuse to buy fancy jewelry!

I only got two pair of earrings I can wear. One silver pair from W&H that I got for my birthday two years ago and I wear them every day. The other gold pair I have were from my great grandmother and I keep them for more special occasions. I thought this sample sale was the perfect opportunity to expand my earring collection and I was right!
I bought two pair of beautiful silver earrings. 
I wasn't planning on buying other jewelry, but the piggy ring obviously matched the piggy earrings and the other ring was so me that it would have been crazy not to buy it!

Now I need a jewelry box! Tip for my birthday in May!

Larelle Part Two

4 Years

Two years ago, when I wrote my thesis, I won a Bongo voucher for 'Best Website'. It was an adventure voucher. I'm not into adventurous sports and I wasn't that 'out of the comfort zone'-minded back then, so I switched the Bongo voucher for another one: Dining for two in a classy restaurant! (Surprise?)
We kept putting of redeeming the voucher, until now. I thought this voucher would be perfect for our 'anniversary'. My boyfriend and I will be together for 4 years, next Monday. Romantic :-) !

We went dining at Altermezzo, Tongeren. Man, their food was great!
We had a four-course diner. All great, but they saved the best for last! Their dessert was mind blowing! An absolute violet delight! 
And, don't tell anyone... When no one was looking I cleaned my plate with my finger. Licking my plate clean would have been over the top, but still...

Desk Cleaning

Monday, cleaning day.
I do not have to sit at my desk anymore, since I graduated. I am happy about that, but my desk isn't. Papers, letters, cards and such, all pile up to a big mess. 
I gathered all my cleaning skills and cleaned my desk today. I filled a whole bag of paper!
AMEN!

Mourning

My grandmother moved out of her marital home this weekend.
The house was for sale from before my grandfather died, but a few weeks ago, we found a buyer.

We said she could stay in the house for as long as she lived, but she wanted to sell anyway. She had to many memories and she couldn't cope being alone. For the age of 82, she is quite healthy and active, so she wanted to move to the city where there's people, shops nearby,...
It totally makes sense, because the house and the yard (at the Demer, from my previous blog posts) is too big for her, there are no shops nearby and she can't drive a car and has to take the bus to get around, but my heart breaks when I'm thinking about it. It's weird that someone else will be living in a house where I grew up in, where there's so many memories.

I found it hard and awkward to visit her today in her new apartment. They had a dog, but she decided to give her away to the breeder where they had her from. My grandparents and the breeder were good friends, so it was no problem to give the old dog a shelter for her last months/years. My grandmother didn't want to take her with, because she barks to loud when she's out and so the neighbours would complain. 
I saw her sitting there, in the same chair, but in another environment and without her beloved dog. It broke my heart! It was so weird! It made the death of my grandfather so very real for a moment. In the old house it felt like he was just in the next room and that he would walk in seconds later.
It's her new beginning and she deserves this. She took good care of my granddad when he was ill and she's happy she can take this step forward. I have to open myself up for this new situation and say goodbye to the old house. It will be a new chapter for me too, but I will never ever forget the lovely times!

Nails and Beauty

I accompanied my sister to the Estetika fair in Brussels today. Almost all beauty and welness brands are represented there.
The Pronails booth is the most spectacular of them all. This summer colors are presented on huge advertising boards.
We couldn't choose which colors to take for Elixir de Vie, but we managed to choose the best!
It was a fun day with the best sister in the world!

Snake Belt

I bought two beautiful belts with a gold snake print today at Talking French. 
I couldn't resist to visit the real store to process my trauma from yesterday. I needed to buy my dad a gift for his birthday and passed by the store. There were still some sales on last season's items so I got sucked in. -50% to -70% and two items was an extra 20% off.
I couldn't choose between the waist or hip belt, so I bought them both for less than 20 euros.
Great deal if you ask me! Now I've accepted yesterday's situation.

Eating Away the Traffic Horror

Wooooow, I spent hours in traffic today! Accidents, gps malfunctioning, ... All this to get to a temporary outlet store of Talking French, a Belgian women's clothing brand.
I was supposed to pick up a colleague on the way, but my gps failed me and totally send me the wrong way. I was able to get to the outlet in time, but without my colleague. I rushed through the shop, because it was near closing time. The clothes that were hanging there were awful. It was like I went back in time to the 90's. I managed to find one blazer that fitted me.
On my way back home, I stopped by the office because I was invited to a team meeting. At the end of the meeting there's always food and I was hungry from all the driving!
My god! What a diner! Great day!

New Dress in the Making

Because of the snow yesterday, my colleague wasn't able to come into the office to try on her dress. So I couldn't finish her dress today :-(! I need to make the final adjustments to get it all right. 
I began working on my own dress for the upcoming weddings this spring/summer instead.
I got it 1/4th done today (cutting the pattern, cutting the fabric and sewing the side seems and shoulders). I tried it on already to make sure it's the right fitting. I thought to myself:  "Why not take a picture to post on my blog?". But I don't want to spoil the surprise of how stunning I will look in my self designed dress. You can only get a glimpse of the fabric today :-)

Weather Talk

Busy busy busy! 
I'm working on my sister's website. For every season or occasion, there's another look. I'm working on the spring edition now.
Flowers and colors! Not a good combination with the weather nowadays. Last week it was all sun, warm temperatures and happy thoughts (remember my outside lunch blogpost?) and today it was freezing cold and snowing like hell.

Anyway, maybe I should change my own blogger background...? My assignment for next week!

Peanuts? My Ass!

No report on the dress today... My god! I spent hours on sewing and untying the seams, because it wasn't perfect. So grumpy me got frustrated and decided to leave class, homewards. 
I got home and started to look desperately for sugar to ease my frustration. Only found peanuts, they have to do the trick!

Did you know that:
* Peanuts are not really nuts, but legumes?
* Just a hand full of peanuts per day provides enough recommended levels of phenolic anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins, and protein?

Homeparty Part 2: Larelle

Another homeparty today. This time one with home accessories. 
At first, I wasn't that interested. I just wanted to do my colleague a favour. She will be demonstrating these partys in the near future and so she hosted one herself. Anyway, I was just going to order a light weight polka dot red poncho to take with me to Thailand.
Once the homeparty started, there were other stuff that caught my eye too, like a very handy cosmetic bag and a hand bag (all travel friendly!). I just bought the poncho for now. 
I'm thinking about hosting my own party within a few weeks to get some benefits on the other products.

Proud Sister

Today, I'm very proud of my sister (Actually I'm always proud of her). One year ago she opened her own successful beauty salon at the age of 20.

Happy birthday!

By the way, that punishmentparty yesterday turned out to be fun.

Oops

Ok, I fell asleep on the sofa at my parents house, so I forgot to post on my blog! Oops!
As a punishment I need to do something that's really out of my comfort zone... My boyfriend was at a party and normally I don't go to one after I just slept. So, here I am!
