DIL

Hi folks,

Every Wednesday, I go to my fashion evening classes. I'm learning how to sew my own clothes, how to repair accidents, ...

At the beginning I felt like a real fashion designer. I was going to make the coolest outfits!
I started out with a high waist skirt and was so disappointed afterwards! My skirt was perfectly sewed, but I thought it looked awful on me (I have fatty knees)!
My first year I made some things that were quite OK, to start out, learning the tricks.
My second year was terrible! Because I moved to another town, it was easier to also switch schools. How I hate myself for doing that! That year I learned absolutely nothing. Because of the increased popularity of DIY, the classes became bigger and so did the waiting time! Once I had to wait for my teacher for over an hour, until she was done with helping another student! That year, I made two awful cowboy shirts, a lace detailed T-shirt, two trousers and a jumpsuit. All pieces I don't wear, because they don't fit well. It's easy to choose a pattern from a magazine like Burda, but it always has to be adjusted to your size and shape. Apparently something where my teacher is not good at. It cost me a lot of money if you look at it now!

I started my third year a few weeks ago. Again, our class grew bigger. There are not enough desks if everyone is present, waiting time is still increasing.
However, my skills are improving. I'm trying to sew as much as I can on my own if I have to wait too long.
I'm now making a waistcoat for myself to wear with a T-shirt, and I am quite satisfied about how it's evolving. I hope it will turn out alright, so I can finally wear my own designs.
