Butterflies

I bought the cutest fabric for my new sewing project today at a local fabric boutique: Ateljee P.
I'm totally in love with it and I hope I can finish my project soon!
Now I'm off drinking cocktails with my girlfriend Banana...
See you tomorrow!

Aarschot Rocks

I did what I promised: visit my hometown Aarschot more.
There was an event going on: Aarschot Rockt. Its a concert of a few retro bands and on that event there was a retro market too.
A lot of local creative soals had set up their booth to sell their stuff. Jewelry, baby clothing, partystuff, food, ... Even a barberer and vintage haidressers!
My mom bought me and my sister a necklace :-).

It was a fun event and I hope to visit it next year too!

Urbanist

Are you familiar with the term: crowdfunding?
I was, but I never thought of sponsoring a project like that.
My boyfriend send me a link to such a project that needed funding.

'Urbanist' is a US startup company of Christinia. She was in need of a good pair of cycling chamois panties and started to develop a little collection on her own.

The Brigitte

The Brigitte is great for spin class and daily commutes.
She's promised to be flattering and comfortable with a chamois insert thick enough to protect your va-jay-jay on your bike. And girls, we all know the feeling, don't we?

The Bettie

The Bettie is damn sexy if you ask me.
This chamois panties should be used for short distances (like biking from Sangria to Sangria during summer).
If you and your guy are wasted enough by the end of the evening, he still can take off your pants without you shaming yourself.

I always admired young entrepreneurs with a great idea, but putting the money into it? I would have never done this in the past, I think. So I did a good deed and I did something that's out of my comfort zone: Investing my money where I'm not 100% sure I will get it back in some sort of way.
I took a jump and I invested in a project that I think has a very good chance in succeeding.

If you are a spinning fan or a cyclist, than take a look at this project and back it together with us on Kickstarter!
Me and my boyfriend funded $105,00.

Shake it all out

Hard day at work?
Mad at your boyfriend?
Studying isn't going so well?
Dance and shake it all out!
I just did...

Watermelon

My father-in-law planted a watermelon in his greenhouse.
We got half of the melon yesterday and it as huuuge! It even managed to break a window from the greenhouse.
I just tasted it and I think it's better than a watermelon at the supermarket.
If I'm buying a house, I want a greenhouse too. Full of watermelons!

Self Reflection

My boyfriend taught me something about myself today...
Apparently I have this side that when he doesn't agree with me on things, I ask his opinion several times. I think my subconscious hopes for him to change his mind. I didn't know I did that. So that's what I learned about myself today. I'm going to keep an eye on my behaviour.

New Top

When summer holidays started, I began to work on a summer top.
Yesterday I finally had the time to finish it! I matched this with just a regular jeans and orange all stars.
The result:

Tiled Housewarming

We were invited to a housewarming tonight.
I came in and the first thing I saw was: patterned tiles. Man, I love this! I always said I wanted this when I got a house. I want it in the shower and in the toilet.
The couple we went to visit used these tiles on their terrace and in the toilet! I think it's marvelous!
Because I was so amazed I got a toilettile as a present!
Thanks!

Challenged

I got challenged this morning by a comment on my blogpost DulL...
The challenge was to give at least 10 persons a compliment today.
I have to say it was quite hard, since I was very busy at work and had few human contact. Not an excuse, because I could have used Facebook or emails. I did try to compliment the people I did meet today. A colleague was wearing a very nice pants, another colleague did a very good job for me and I complimented another colleague with his own company.
I will resume this challenge next week, when I will bump into more people (it's going to be a very quiet weekend too).
I'm sorry Mr. or Ms. Anonymous! You had a great idea, but I could not meet your challenge today! But I will next week! I promise!

Share Food

Joey doesn't share food, but I do! Only with my sister and my boyfriend.
I made Wonton soup yesterday and gave the leftovers to my sis. I hope she loves it!

My boyfriend doesn't like it when I try to steal something from his plate.
I always do it when he's not looking.

Pin Up Pup

An Lemmens, a damn sexy Belgian television show host, has a heart for animals!
Just like me, she shares the opinion that too much animals wind up at a shelter.
These poor animals were abused, unwanted and/or not chipped so the owner couldn't be traced.
Many people who get a pet still don't choose a shelter animal and I wonder why. Why pay hundreds (sometimes thousands) of euros when you can give a wonderful dog or cat from the shelter a second life for less money?
Ann came up with the idea to draw the attention to these animals by posing with them in retro style. Her initiative is called 'Pin Up Pup' and the publicity is really working, because the animals and the shelters she poses with get a lot of adoption attention.

We had a Boxer 'Delphy' when I grew up and still have some great memories left of her. My parents told me she helped me to learn how to walk by pushing her nose under my butt when I tried to stand up and walk. Funny story. She was my best friend. Unfortunately she got cancer (typically for this breed) and we had to put her down. I will never forget the day my parents dropped me off at my grandparents to drive to the vet. My mom came back to get us and was crying.
I always thought our family wasn't complete without a dog, but my dad didn't want one anymore. I eventually gave up trying to convince him.

About 3 years ago I had to take a 2 day internship at a shelter. On my second (and last day) at the shelter I met 'Boy'. He was found close to the freeway the day I began to work there. He was such a cute and happy dog and he totally stole my heart. He was looking kind of funny too. We think he's a mix between a Dachshund and a Rottweiler.
I immediately informed my family about my new boyfriend and I convinced my mom and sister to come and take a look. I knew they couldn't resist. My mom was a little skeptic at first, but she said I could have him if my dad said yes. Challenge accepted!
Surprisingly my dad came to the shelter without nagging and he said: "Ok, I give up, he's yours!". I started to cry, because I was finally getting a dog! I still don't believe he said yes!
We had to wait for 2 weeks before we could take him home with us, because the rightful owner should be given the time to claim the dog. I went to the shelter every day to walk him and counted the days we could take him home.
We changed his name to 'Fré' and I think he's really happy with us. My mom really spoils him (too much sometimes, because he has a hard time listening to our commands).

So, you see, shelter dogs deserve a second chance!
If you think about getting a dog, I suppose you have good intentions. Choose a shelter dog, don't you think they will be better off with you than in a small cage?

Nothing out of the ordinary happened today.
That can be fun too!
Sleep tight!

Kitty Tent

Our kitty loves to cuddle underneath the sheets. I have to build a little tent for her and she will stay there until she has enough.

Little Book of Calm: Part 2

My boyfriend has a new addiction: David Attenborough documentaries.
I'm forced to watch these episodes with him, but I don't mind. I think it's totally relaxing. My parents used to have Animal Planet on TV. I could watch that for hours!
So, when you're feeling like you need to calm down. Put on some nature!

Weekend Belly BOOM

I think our weekend didn't contain much except from eating and walking the dog. I had a little destress time and ate a lot of candy today.
My belly is going to explode!

Fré was a very good boy at night! He barked one time, because he was in guarding mode and someone was walking down the hall.
I immediately disciplined him and the rest of the night wasn't really a problem.

I had a nice weekend with my sis. We should do this more often!

So Far So Good

Fré's first night at a hotel is coming up. So far so good! He's been a good boy for the whole day. He's been walking fine and during dining he was quiet. Every time we got our food (heavenly btw!) the waitress gave him a cookie. The last course she didn't, so he barked at her to let her know he wanted his share too. Super funny!
We're now ready to go to bed. Fingers crossed for Fré's night!
Nightnight!

Saint Rochus

On the 15th of August there's a tradition
(in honor of St. Rochus) at my hometown, Aarschot. Everyone turns off the lights and surrounds their part of the street with candles. It's a very romantic view and I love it because everyone gets together. It was nice to chat with some old friends and I realized (like every year) I need to come here more often. I sure miss everyone and I'm missing out on some great stories! I need to work on that!

Wednesday 14 August 2013

God Bless

I appreciate quiet evenings. I really do.
And I appreciate Baileys. Thank god for Baileys. And series. And Wifi.

And my bed!

Old Friends, Good Friends

I went for a drink with an old friend today. It's been years and it was very nice to chat again. She hasn't changed a bit and we still have a lot in common, it's like we've never been apart.
We promised each other to stay in touch, because friendship is rare nowadays.

Here's a picture of us in the old days:

These pictures are 8 or 9 years old, if I'm not mistaking.
I have found worse on my old hard drive, but I think this one's enough :-) !

WE-trip Booked!

I just booked a weekend trip with my sister to Kortgene, Zeeland, The Netherlands.
It's our first trip together without the rest of the family and we're taking our dog Fré with us.
It will be his first time to sleep somewhere else but home, but I think he will manage. Maybe he can sleep between me and my sis :-P . That could be fun!
I'm really looking forward to it, because I really need a time out!

Killing Addict

I tested my sleeping bag for a few hours yesterday. When I woke up and was feeling good enough to drive, we went off home anyway. Perfect sleeping bag!
We had a lazy day today. My boyfriend had a major hangover and I was pretty tired. I'm watching the end of The Killing Season 3 right now.

Saturday 10 August 2013

Drinking and testing

We are invited to a BBQ.
I'm not the responsible driver tonight. I'm drinking too.
We took our tent and our new sleeping bag with us to try it out.
U just went peeing on a toilet full of spiders, so I think I'm ready to handle Thailand.
Go for it L.!

Friday 9 August 2013

Burger

I went to lunch with some colleagues today at Ellis Gourmet Burger. They make the best burgers in the world! I chose the Bollywood Delight. A marinated piece of chicken with mango chutney and a mint yoghurt dressing and some vegetables.
Hmmmm.
You definitely need to check that place out! Better than Mc. Do!

Thursday 8 August 2013

Sleeping Bag

We bought a sleeping bag to take with us to Thailand today.
I will try it out on Saturday when we go to a BBQ. We're staying over with our tent.

Superstition

I don't believe in God, but I am superstitious.
My mom always told me that when you light a candle for someone, it brings good luck.
Every time I went to an exam, she lit a candle. I never failed, except for that one time she didn't.

Today, I light a candle for a friend. Her son needs to go into the hospital tomorrow morning for surgery.
I hope everything will turn out fine!
xL.

(The candle with Mary is just a coincidence!
My boyfriend likes to give me 1 euro to buy crap at a cheap crap store)

Mr. Kivver

This little beetle took a ride on my windshield all the way to work this morning.
I call him after my nephews funniest trivial persuit answer ever: Mr. Kivver.
My nephew got the following trivial question:
"What's the English word for 'Kever' (Dutch)? It's also a famous 60's rockband."
His answer"Kivver"

20

My brother became 20 years old today.
I got him a present from David & Goliath a while ago and finally I could hand it over to him.
He was happy and was looking terrific in his new T-shirt!
He's the best brother in the world and I love him!
Happy B-day!

Wedding: Best one so far

Yesterday was quite the wedding.
Best one so far!
I had real fun! So much fun, I was tired and slow all day!

Ready for Tomorrow

One of our good friends is getting married and I've been waiting for this day a long time. That dress I was making, was for this wedding..
I'm ready for tomorrow! I just have to paint my nails, put on some make up and do my hair.
I remember the day the couple told us they were getting married.
A few weeks before the guy was preaching he thought it was stupid to get married and he didn't want to do it. He could show his love for her in other ways.
So I thought he was kidding when he told us.
Funny :-)
I think they are cute together, don't you think?
A picture of the happy couple the night they told us the news:

Sexy Air Compression

I remember the first time my boyfriend had to inflate his tires. "How can I do that?"
And I was like "At the gas station, duuuh! With the compressor, duuuh!"
He didn't know how to use that compressor, so I did it for him.
Today, I needed to inflate mine. There I was, dress above the knee, 34°C and all guys at the gas station, getting gas. I saw them thinking: "Damn, that girl sure knows how to handle a compressor!".
And I thought: "Stop looking at my butt assholes!"
