Can't Live Without Kitties

I went on a quick visit to one of my best friends, Banana, before I leave for Thailand. She has two cats and while we were watching an episode of nature they tried to cath the animals on TV. Super funny!
After that visit I couldn't resist visiting our own kitty Juliette, who's staying at my sister. I've really missed her these last few days and apparentely she felt the same way. She came running straight towards me, cuddling me. I cuddled and played with her for a while. Tomorow I will pay her a last visit. I'm going to miss her.

Prepared

My boyfriend is very busy this evening with packing his backpack.
Last week I was already packed for 75%. Now 90%.

I'm well prepared :-). No super last-minute packing for me. I'm now relaxing in front of the stove...

No Thai. Yes African! I finished my African style fabric pants!
I started cutting out the pattern for my coat too.
No sewing class for the following weeks, but lets hope I'll find some unique fabrics in Thailand...

Backpack Try Out

I bought a backpack today. 50% off. Convenient :-)!
I tried to load it with the things I already put aside and it's not nearly full! I just got to add a few more things that need to be washed first. If I keep in mind that I'll need some room for souvenirs I think it will be fine.
I'm better at packing than I thought!

Sporty Me

My legs hurt from our trip this weekend.
I went to spinning class anyway. I did the best of all my classes together. Good job, sporty me!

Keep on Trippin'

Day 1
16km (not 20, like I thought yesterday!)

I made it!
Hill up, hill down. Thanks to Ms. S. my feet are A-OK. I got to borrow her walking shoes.
Tomorrow 8km.

Keep on trippin'!

Day 2
I had no reception up in the woods of La Wallonie. So my blogpost didn't get through!
We walked for 8km today. Through the woods (with no paths), through a horse pasture, through cow shit and mud (sorry Ms. S, I will clean your shoes!). I wasn't keen on walking through the woods. You all know I hate spiders soooo badly + those woods made me think of the forbidden woods from the Harry Potter movies and you have to admit that Hagrid has some huuuge spiders there. I was panicking at one point where I felt something crawling up my face. It was just my hair but I thought it was a spider web with a spider.
ANYWAY, I made it through these 2 days and I had a lot of fun. I got to know some people a bit better and it made me learn once again that you can be wrong about a people's personality...

On Our Way to the Other Side

We're on our way to the other side: La Wallonie.
We're coming together with some friends to make a trip.
They've planned a 20km walking trip for tomorrow. I will be able to try out my colleagues walking shoes to take with me to Thailand.
We'll be back Sunday evening.
If eveything goes well, I'll have mobile data connection to keep you posted. Since yesterday I'm Proximus again, so there shouldn't be troubles with connection any longer. I'm sooo glad Mobistar is out of the way!
See you tomorrow! X L.

Traditional Game Night

I organised a traditional game night at work together with a colleague.
I learned to play a new game: Caylus. Although I lost the game, I had so much fun playing it! I thought Settlers of Catan was a tactic game, but this one's much worse!
Our game night was a great success, so I hope we can set a new date for a sequel!

Desk Milestone

My boyfriend moved my desk.
He thinks this is a milestone, because I only used it during exams.

Brain Training

As everyone of my friends and family knows, I'm a very forgetful person.
I can't remember appointments, unless I booked them in my online agenda.
I can't remember which things to bring from the supermarket, unless I composed a shopping list.
I can't remember tasks on my TO DO list in my head, only on a list that I wrote down physically.
Everyday I'm forgetting something out of these three categories.

Today, it was something on my physical TO DO list: "Get travel passport at city hall".
Our city hall is always closed at 4pm, except on Tuesday they're opened until 7.30pm.
This TO DO concerning my passport has been on my list for weeks, but I always remember on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Pretty annoying.
BUT today was a good day, because I remembered on the right day...

It was 7.20pm. I was already in my 'packing boxes-clothing' and then it hit me. I needed to go to city hall to get my passport!
I jumped out of my slippers, got my shoes on, had to look for my keys (because I forgot where I put them), ran to my car and rushed to city hall. I arrived at the counter at 7.27pm, where they invented a new cue system. I had to indicate on a computer screen for which department I was there and why. Because I was so hasty, I tapped the wrong button and the wrong ticket came out of the printer. Tap Tap Tap! New ticket, GO! Went the wrong way, turn around.
They yelled a number through a speaker, but no answer. Once more and once more. No one there. Of course it was the number of the first ticket I got: for the wedding department. My subconscious speaking?
Second number was the right one: travel passport. It didn't take long before they had found mine. Took a quick look at it: "My God! Did they photoshop my picture to an even uglier one?!"
I was back at my car at 7.30pm.

Need brain training!

I know politics

I know more politics than my boyfriend.
At least, today I did.
A documentary about public transportation and cycling in Brussels. There was a politician on the screen and he thought it was another politician and I said: "No honey, that's the other one!"
Smart me :'-) !

Bathroom Pro

I have been working at my parents house all weekend. Our whole family is helping out placing a bathroom.
When we'll find our own house to buy we will be able to create the perfect bathroom. You can look at my dream interior on Pinterest!

Homie

I had to drive my brother to his basketball game. I took my dad's new VW Tiguan :-)))))) !
Smooth car! I loved to drive it.
No accidents, no speeding tickets! YES!

Layer Day

Layering today!

Main course: Lasagna (my boyfriend's favourite)
I always make lasagna together with Jeroen.

Dessert: Red Fruit Tiramisu
With this dessert I go freestyle based on a recipe of Libelle magazine.

What to Pack - Travel List

I'm packing boxes with clothing for our move within a few weeks.
While I'm packing, I'm putting some things aside to take with me to Thailand. I can't pack for a trip without a list, so I'm making one now.
Are there things I shouldn't forget, apart from clean underwear?
The challenge: "Make sure you're not heavy packed! Only take with you what you need!"

Handy checklist: Packing checklist.

Dreams

I love to sleep. Who doesn't? But I'm not good at it.
When I sleep, I dream on a regular base. Mostly, I remember those dreams when I wake up.

I'm jealous of people who have normal dreams, on subjects like unicorns, soft kitties or (lots and lots of) candy. I rarely dream about those things. It's always some bizarre story!

Last night I dreamt about a colleague of mine. I could accompany him to a customer visit, together with two interns. This visit was at a farm and our contact's desk was located in a huge chicken barn. I was seated with my back facing the wall and my colleague sat beside me, together with the interns. During our meeting with the customer our interns started to giggle and laugh real hard, so my colleague yelled they had to leave. When they left I felt quite uncomfortable, but didn't knew why until I looked up. Above my head was a lamp and it was covered with grasshoppers all over. Not small ones, but two times the size of my hand. I started screaming and panicking and I ran outside to a lettuce field. I kicked off the grasshoppers. When I shook them off, I noticed the pigeon that was sitting on my shoulder and it shitted all over my expensive cardigan I was wearing. It was cashmere!

My colleague came outside towards me. He was crying. He said he was disappointed in my reaction about the grasshoppers. I ruined our sales pitch.

Weird huh!?
I always wondered about the meaning of dreams. Anyone care to explain?

TV is a Friend

I had a relaxed night at my friend's new place. All we did was watching TV.
I love it when you can just enjoy each other's company without talking too much.
I needed this so badly, because it's been a crazy day at work.

All for my Sister

No spinning class for me today.
I went to the Estetika fair with my sis.

Let me tell you something about my relationship with my sister.
When we were little kids, she was very close with my brother, but when she reached puberty we started really bonding. I took her with me to some concerts and the youth club and we had lots of fun dancing around the house together to our favourite songs. Great times, funny pictures.
She was (and still is) my best friend and I would have done everything to protect her.
I threatened her (potential) boyfriends (only the last one dared to stay - deserves an applause), I drove her around to parties and I became (mental) mad when I found out she smoked a cigarette for the first (and last) time.

Today (and yeeeeears later) not much has changed.
I saved her from a creepy sales man today, at a beauty product booth at the fair. I think if he would have tried to approach her, I would have karatechopped him in the balls. Seriously!

Shawl Collar

My boyfriend and I went shopping. Because of the Autumn Shopping Days, a lot of stores were opened.
We went to Portobello, a men's clothing shop at Leuven where I worked in my student days.
My boyfriend is a very easy person when it comes to clothing. So easy, that it's hard for me to dress him sometimes...
He likes: black, grey and blue. I like: bright colors.
He likes: standard fits. I like: something different and original.
Do you see why it's hard? I sometimes think he's dressed too boring.

Anyway, when we were at the store I found him a beautiful shawl collar from PME Legend. He didn't want to try it on, but I made him do it. He was looking soooo sexy, but I couldn't convince him. After every shirt he tried on I asked him if he was sure he didn't want the sweater. He tried it on four times.

He bought four shirts (two colorful), a chino pants
and the shawl collar :-)
VICTORY!

3 Parties

Three parties tonight:
* One birthday diner party for my boyfriend's dad.
* One farewell party for a friend who's moving to Australia. I think it's really brave she's doing this. She's leaving everything behind for love.
* One birthday party of a few friends

Busy night!

Tribute to my pets today! They make me complete!

Routine

Routine. I don't think that it counts as comfort zone, does it?
I need my routine in the morning, because of my grumpy mood...
I come in at work, start my laptop and walk over to the kettle to heat some water for my morning tea. If someone breaks this ritual, I don't feel like
myself for a whole day. This doesn't mean that nobody can talk to me. On the contrary, I find it very nice to bump into some people at the coffee machine/kettle for a morning chat. As long as I can return to my office where I can have half an hour peace to myself.

Carwash

The Carwash.
This place gives you 5 minutes to really think about some things!
One of my favourite places in 'My Little Book of Calm'.

You can cry if you want to @ carwash
